Foreword
The Institute of Polymer Materials consists of four departments: Department of Plastics and Rubber, Department of Fibres and Textile Chemistry, Department of Graphic Arts Technology and Applied Photochemistry, Department of Chemical Technology of Wood, Pulp and Paper.
The history of the Institute dates back to 1943, when the Department of Wood Technology and the Department of Technology of Organic Substances were established and first lectures on polymer chemistry and polymer technology started. The Institute occupies a specific position within the Slovak
Republic and relates to the wide spectrum of chemical, wood, paper, textile, rubber, plastics and graphic arts industries.
